Happy Readers
Ages 5-6

This class is great for emerging readers. It will introduce kids to awesome children’s literature to get them excited about books and reading and help them develop the skills to discuss stories with others. In class, we will read part or all of the books depending on their length. Then we will spend the rest of the class responding to the story through activities like crafts, role-playing, games, and making our own picture books. - This program does not teach kids to read.

Spanish Adventure
Ages 7-9

In this class, students will learn about Hispanic cultures around the world, acquire basic Spanish conversational skills, and begin to read and write in the Spanish language. Students will learn through games, stories, songs, and crafts.

Mad Scientists Club
Ages 7-9

Science really is fun! It is all around us...and even in us! Using hands on experiments, activities and projects we will explore the world around us! We will investigate many different topics in science including physics, earth science, chemistry, weather, animal science, plant science, the human body and much more! Topics will be covered in interactive classes that incorporate hands on activities in a way sure to engage and excite!

Circus A
Ages 7-9

Offered by Kinetic Tapestry Physical Theatre company here in the very same building, this class is an introduction and development of everything circus. This is a physically active class where students are introduced to juggling, balancing, tumbling, and clowning. It will challenge them to not only develop individual body control, be creative and expressive, but also how to work together with a group to create a fun and entertaining piece.

Children's Choir
Ages 8-13

DaySpring’s Children’s Choir offers a fun and educational musical experience, with performances in two annual concerts. Students learn basic music concepts such as keeping a steady beat, correct singing posture, choral vocal technique, music terminology, and sight-singing skills. They perform a variety of age-appropriate repertoire, including hymns, Christian choir songs, folk music, and more, and begin singing in two- or three-part harmony. The choir emphasizes vocal technique and expression, aiming to inspire a lifelong love of music in both the singers and their families.

Art Innovators
Ages 10-13

In this engaging art class, students will explore the intersection of creativity, personal expression, and social awareness. As they develop advanced motor skills and representation techniques, students will be encouraged to discover and refine their unique artistic styles. Through discussions about community, environment, social issues, and cultural influences, they will express their opinions and explore new perspectives.

The class will guide students in tackling long-term, multi-step projects that challenge their creativity and introduce them to a variety of tools and techniques. By blending artistic exploration with conversations about societal values and issues, students will learn to create meaningful artwork that reflects both personal and collective experiences.

Bow & Play
Ages 5-8

This class is rooted in the principles of the Suzuki Method, which believes that every child, regardless of age or natural ability, can learn to play the violin with the right guidance and encouragement. Through a combination of engaging songs, games, and interactive activities, students will develop a strong foundation in violin technique, including proper posture, bowing, and basic note reading. The class focuses on building essential skills such as rhythm, ear training, and finger placement in a fun, supportive environment that nurtures a love for music. A rental instrument is required for this class.

Beginning Contemporary Modern
Ages 7-9

An introduction to common styles and basic principles of contemporary and modern dance. Students will build awareness of correct physical alignment, gain strength, and increase coordination through movement. Activities will encourage creativity and self-expression.

***This class is a perfect companion to Beginning Tap and Jazz, a Ballet class, or a Musical Theatre class! Or it can be taken alone by students ages 7-9, who have little or no dance experience.

These classes perform in DaySpring’s end of year recital, Finale.

Contemporary Modern 1
Ages 10-13

There are many different modern dance techniques that students will learn in these classes, including Graham, Horton, and Contract-Release. Contemporary dance is a fusion of styles of modern dance and other movement techniques, often with a heavy emphasis on Release Technique while maintaining a foundation in Modern dance. As students progress through our Modern Contemporary Curriculum, they will increase awareness of correct physical alignment, gain strength, and improve coordination while learning to use purposeful weight placement to initiate different movements. Creativity, improvisation, and self expression through movement will be emphasized throughout each level.

***Students registered for Contemporary Modern 3 are required to take a ballet class***

These classes perform in DaySpring’s end of year recital, Finale.

Acting 2
Ages 11-14

This class will give students the opportunity to expand their dramatic side. They will grow in confidence, develop communication skills, and the ability to work in groups, as they explore stories & drama techniques. We will expand on previous acting skills, including creating a character, finding the life of the character, understanding the secrets of the scene, improvisation, and bringing the scene from page to stage.

This class is required to audition for our winter play. This class will perform in Fall Showcase and Actor’s Spotlight.
